    Viking River Cruises picks Davenport as stopping point

    Quad-City Times- European cruise giant Viking River Cruises picked Davenport as a destination spot for its Mississippi River cruises planned to begin in 2017, a company official said Monday morning.

    Quad-City Times- The Quad-Cities will be host to a business and industry conference that will draw hundreds of guests and is expected to pump at least $400,000 into the local economy.

    Project would ‘push western boundary of downtown

    Quad-City Times- A proposal to build a four-story, 45-unit apartment building on Davenport’s 4th Street got a boost when the Iowa Finance Authority allocated $799,500 in federal affordable housing tax credits to the project.

    Demo of dock building to begin

    Press Release: Demo of Dock Building to Begin
    The Dock in Davenport, LLC
    Davenport, Iowa, March 17,2015:

    – The Dock in Davenport, LLC announces that the demo of the Dock building located off of Perry Street on the riverfront in Davenport, Iowa will begin before the end of this month. Todd Raufeisen, Developer, states the environmental remediation will take place initially and will take between 30-90 days depending on how much contamination is discovered beyond the initial study. Actual demo of the building will follow and is expected to take no more than 30 days.

    – The demo is in advance of construction of the new 3-story building as approved by City Council last September. Raufeisen reports that 68% of the building is currently leased and have a Letter of Intent for the entire second floor. It is anticipated that the building will be 96% preleased by the end of March. Construction is estimated to begin mid to late July.

    Davenport Today- The historic Hotel Blackhawk is celebrating it’s 100-year anniversary all of 2015 with a series of celebrations and special events. Hotel owners/developers Amrit and Amy Gill were in town Tuesday night for the kickoff of the year-long party, and we had a chance to sit down and talk with them about Hotel Blackhawk, their pioneering work in Davenport’s recent downtown explosion, future projects such as City Square, Scott Community College’s new downtown campus, the Kahl Building renovation and others.
