Downtown Davenport Partnership seeks events & marketing intern

Intern will play active role in three major Quad Cities festivals

The Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP), a division of the Quad Cities Chamber, has an open position for an Events & Marketing Intern. College students intersted in enhancing their education and experience in event planning, marketing and implementation are encouraged to apply. Below is the job description. Summary

This internship position offers hands-on experience and applicants can expect to play an active role in producing three major Quad Cities festivals. The Events & Marketing Intern reports directly to the DDP Director of Events. Time commitment expected is 10-15 hours/week through May, and 40 hours/week in addition to events in June, July and August. Events include:

  • Red, White and Boom – July 3
  • Street Fest (Bix 7 weekend) - July 24-25
  • Alternating Currents – Aug. 27-30

Essential Functions

  • Assist event planning and execution (requires being on site during all events)
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and assist training session implementation
  • Coordinate and interact with event vendors
  • Assist sponsor benefits and fulfillment
  • Assist deployment of marketing plans and social media content management
  • Assist with updating and maintaining event websites and festival web app
  • Ability to proofread documents efficiently
  • Adobe Creative Suite software knowledge preferred but not required
  • Provides administrative support as needed
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, skills and experience requirements

  • Marketing, Communications or Business Administration majors desired but not required
  • Professional, service-oriented attitude
  • Experience in Microsoft Office is required (Word, Excel)
  • Adobe Create Suite experience preferred but not required
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Dependable and flexible

Compensation:

$9.25/hour, increasing to $10/hour July 1, 2020
