Becca and Red, how do we love thee? The Abernathy story began while these two were working together at a boutique upriver in LeClaire, Iowa. When the shop relocated to Chicago, the duo decided to give things a go on their own.
They made their downtown Davenport debut on the east-end 2nd Street corridor, and they quickly became a Quad Cities staple. Sadly, the cruel flood of 2019 uprooted their establishment and forced them to find a new location. Wherever these two gals go, though, their fans follow, and we’re lucky they chose downtown Davenport a second time. You can check out their new digs at 432 W. 3rd Street.
There’s some serious synergy developing on the west end of downtown, and much of that is attributed to Becca and Red’s hard work and dedication. We are grateful for their continued investment downtown and love the vibes they bring to the neighborhood.
⭐ Best known for:
One-of-a-kind pieces that are unique and eclectic. You'll find items that you can't find anywhere else in the QC, whether it's a custom-tailored pinup dress, macabre home decor or a piece of handmade art (30 regional artists have featured creations at Abernathy’s).
❤️ What do they love most about being downtown?
“We love being a part of a community downtown. We love sharing our streets with our fellow business owners, downtown residents and traveling tourists. We also love being a part of a rich river history on the mighty Mississippi.”
What is the best way you can support this business?
You can explore the store (masks are required), and they also have been working hard to make sure even MORE of their special inventory is available online with easy on-site pickup. Check them out online or give them a call!

About the Downtown Front Porch Project:
The Downtown Front Porch project is a way to get to know the humans behind the businesses in downtown Davenport. Featuring more than 40 organizations, the images and stories that will be shared are reflective of the energy, passion and resilience of the people that make downtown tick.
“As we all try to navigate a global pandemic, finding ways to connect with our neighbors is more important than ever,” stated Kyle Carter, Executive Director of DDP. “With a year of cancelled events and less foot traffic on the streets, it’s critical that we spend our dollars locally to support the people in our own community. Small, locally-owned businesses are at the center of what makes downtown a special place. This campaign is an opportunity to show the faces of hard-working Quad Citizens and ways the community can rally to support them.”
The goal of the Downtown Front Porch project is to remind people that downtown is vibrant, welcoming and open for business.
