Downtown Front Porch Project: Oh So Sweet

Quad Citizen Behind the Business: Tiphanie Cannon

July 15, 2020

Tiphanie Cannon at Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie is one of our hometown heroes! She started a small baking company out of her home kitchen, sold goods at the Freight House Farmers' Market and then expanded into this beautiful storefront.

When you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive - wonderful aromas of freshly baked goods, shelves stocked with delectable desserts, and an energetic team that welcomes you with a smile. It is love at first sight.

Tiph Cannon's entrepreneurial journey is one to be admired. From working in her home kitchen six years ago to recently being featured on the Food Network, she is a hustler and we love having her in our neighborhood!

Best known for:
Made-to-order sandwiches (beginner's guide: try the Cluck Norris, Raz-penjo and Hog Heaven). Also, the decorated sugar cookies, French macarons, boyfriend cookies and incredible cakes.
*Editor's note: peep the cupcakes of the week... crazy, fun, oftentimes boozy collaborations with businesses across the Quad Cities region.

What does she love most about being downtown?
"I love being part of the tight-knit downtown family and working, collaborating and supporting other small businesses."

What is the best way you can support this business?
After the pandemic hit, Oh So Sweet quickly adapted, updating its online ordering system. And now, the team is preparing to launch a new app to make ordering easier and more streamlined.

Tiph has hosted many virtual baking parties to stay connected and offer the community a fun activity to do from home. They have a super cute outdoor seating area and they will continue to offer curbside pickup. Keep ordering lunches, birthday cakes and treat yourself to all of the things that are Oh So Sweet at 314 Main!

About the Downtown Front Porch Project:

The Downtown Front Porch project is a way to get to know the humans behind the businesses in downtown Davenport. Featuring more than 40 organizations, the images and stories that will be shared are reflective of the energy, passion and resilience of the people that make downtown tick.

“As we all try to navigate a global pandemic, finding ways to connect with our neighbors is more important than ever,” stated Kyle Carter, Executive Director of DDP. “With a year of cancelled events and less foot traffic on the streets, it’s critical that we spend our dollars locally to support the people in our own community. Small, locally-owned businesses are at the center of what makes downtown a special place. This campaign is an opportunity to show the faces of hard-working Quad Citizens and ways the community can rally to support them.”

The goal of the Downtown Front Porch project is to remind people that downtown is vibrant, welcoming and open for business.
