What's coming this summer and through 2024

April 10, 2024

Along with some choice new eateries, the uber-popular Last Picture House and the Capitol Theater reopening – Downtown Davenport is definitely a QC hot spot right now. The vibe feels good, and the momentum is helping drive new living options to downtown, as well. You can’t miss the new construction and renovation projects that seem to be popping up block after block.

“Residential development, both historic renovations and new construction, continues to be a core driver of economic growth downtown that supports our commercial sector,” said Downtown Davenport Partnership Executive Director Kyle Carter.

Carter said it’s exciting to see the projects come to fruition and to see the progress on the projects continuing through spring and summer.

Here’s a look at what’s new and what’s coming this summer:

  • Bowstring Lofts, 601 W. 2nd St., is now open with 19 residential apartments and two commercial units. Originally built in 1927, the historic brick on the interior and exterior has been preserved. Inside, the arched bowstring trusses have been exposed and used as a design element for the 2-level lofts. Several of the units are rented, and an open house will take place soon.
  • Bucktown Lofts, 225 E. 2nd St., is a historic 1910 building being rehabbed from its former home as the Bucktown Center for the Arts. It will include 21 apartments with 1, 2 and 3-bedroom options. Seven ground-floor commercial units will vary in size from 160 to 2,000 square feet. Rents will range from $925 to $2,250 per month. Developer Neil Desai hopes to have the project completed by late this summer.
  • Federal Point, 450 LeClaire St., is a four-story, 185-unit apartment building under construction and is taking applications for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments. Property Manager, Stephanie Bunch, says that in spite of a few delays, the building is scheduled to open by May 1.
  • Apartments on Main (3rd and Main, next to the library), is a four-story, 121-unit apartment building under construction. An opening date has not been announced, but it is scheduled to open in 2024.

“These big projects are still just a small portion of what’s underway downtown right now," said Carter. "In June during our annual meeting, we’re eager to announce many more exciting downtown businesses and projects in the works. Stay tuned!"
