Main Street Landing groundbreaking, 3rd St. road resurfacing and Emerson Alley updates

March 25, 2025

We have a lot of Downtown Davenport news to share and a solid progress report on several important ongoing projects.

3rd Street Road Resurfacing and Conversion Construction

You may have seen front-page news last week that long-awaited road resurfacing from Telegraph to Harrison Streets will begin March 31. Work will begin at the west end and make its way toward downtown through the summer months.  When road resurfacing and intersection upgrades are finished this fall, two-way conversion will be implemented on 3rd Street from Marquette to River Drive. Fourth Street changes will follow after road resurfacing and conversion improvements are done in early 2026.

You can expect more notes from DDP as the year progresses as these intertwined projects come together and further refine timing  of implementation, loading zone improvements, etc.

We’re just thrilled to see this truly moving!  More to come; stay tuned.

Main Street Landing Ground-Breaking
Mark your calendar to join us on the riverfront April 3 at 1 p.m. for the official ground-breaking of Main Street Landing!  MSL is just one of the many great elements of the Destination Iowa riverfront improvements getting underway.

After decades of planning, fundraising and advocacy, we cannot wait for this placemaking dream to become a reality on the riverfront.  Building a dynamic, flood-resistant play space that can truly drive year-round activation has long been on the to-do list. Getting that first shovel in the ground is going to feel great.

Emerson Alley
Have you noticed the beautiful new poles with lights crisscrossing Emerson Alley?  It looks even better than expected, and we still haven’t installed the archways at each end!  The arches are being manufactured right here in Davenport, and we will announce an official celebration of this placemaking beauty once we add the cherry on top.

Downtown Branding Development
As the research phase of our branding is wrapping up, Riffle Advertising  is beginning to shape up some formal concepts. We’re planning to unveil some new Downtown Davenport brand elements this summer at our annual meeting. More to come!
